Afrikana Soul Sister wins a JUNO award

We are very pleased to announce that Afrikana Soul Sister has won the JUNO award in the category “Global Music Album of the Year”! The group earned this award with KALASÖ, their most recent album.

“Music is about learning from each other” said Jean-François Lemieux, the trio’s multi-instrumentalist. A message that is very clear for the group since KALASÖ means “we will all go to class”. The latter always pushes this idea that music is a tool that unites us and makes us learn from each other. A philosophy that defines the essence of Afrikana Soul Sister.

“Thank you very much, we are very very happy, very very pleased. This is the musical diversity, the cultural diversity! That’s what everyone gives, that’s their culture. This is what makes the beauty of our Canada. Thank you very much! – Djely Tapa, singer of the group.
