K!RA OJI – Stepping into Adulthood
A young rapper and songwriter, K!RA OJI has been honing his songs over the past few years. Reacting to injustices and driven by passionate impulses, he finds in composition a place to encompass all his human states and take a pause in time. With a certain intensity in his actions, he conceives writing as a massive catharsis, a way to transform hate and anger. Like an alchemist, he turns the negative into light, and it’s through words that he undertakes to reverse his impulses.
With the collaboration of his accomplice and producer DJ Kleancut, he successfully released his first EP, “Protagoniste,” in 2022. Regarding his new album, “Chercheur de lumières,” (Seeker of Lights) K!RA OJI explains, “I aspire to make this album a canvas of a part of my life and an object rich in meaning for me. I work hard to become an artist who offers intelligent and appealing rap.”
Set to sounds completed in collaboration with renowned beatmakers (Farfadet, GLOCE, Majosty, etc.), his music is as robust and weighty as it is moving and gentle, drawing us into a wholly surprising and uncharted universe.
Born in Angoulême, France, in 2001, K!RA OJI, whose real name is Antoine Poireau, left France and landed on the South Shore of Montreal at the dawn of adolescence, where his musical journey began. He quickly discovered that he could make people laugh and react. Already aware of the impact of his words and expressions, it was through his playful antics that he attracted attention as much as trouble. As the years passed, the oppositional child grew older but never lost his ability to command the stage.
