Afrikana Soul Sister has been very successful and has received numerous awards and mentions. After winning a JUNO and a FÉLIX in 2022, as well as a nomination at the GAMIQ, the group announces today its nomination at the Gala Dynastie in the category “World Music Performer or Band”.

But what is the Gala Dynastie?

The Gala Dynastie is a unique event in Quebec that rewards personalities from Black communities who have distinguished themselves in the fields of arts, culture and media and whose achievements deserve to be recognized.

Afrikana Soul Sister does just that: led by seasoned Quebec multi-instrumentalist, producer and arranger Jean-François Lemieux, complemented by Senegalese percussionist Fa Cissokho and Malian singer Djely Tapa, the trio embodies the unclassifiable meeting of West Africa and North America in a vibrant place where tradition and the thirst to create far outweigh ego. In response to the prevailing individualism, a message: that of a universal humanity, supported by deep and similar values, despite differences.
