The Franklin Electric

Since the release of their debut album This Is How I Let You Down (2014), The Franklin Electric has made a name for itself by transforming personal experiences into anthems. With over 450 live shows to their credit, the Montreal-based collective led by Jon Matte has toured the world alongside artists like Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard, Half Moon Run, and City and Colour, before stepping into the spotlight as headliners. Their sophomore album Blue Ceilings (2017) made a lasting impact, earning them a nomination for “Breakthrough Group of the Year” at the Juno Awards.

Building on this success, The Franklin Electric released the In Your Head (2019) / In Your Heart (2020) EP duology, which accumulated over 4 million streams for the track In Your Heart alone. They followed this with the EP Never Look Back (2020), which earned a nomination for “Album of the Year – Reinterpretation” at the Gala ADISQ, and the album This Time I See It (2021).

In 2022, the release of singles like Borderline, Answers, Rabbit Hole, Lesser of the Worst, and A Token of Your Purpose allowed the band to triple their monthly listeners on streaming platforms. This set the stage for Oh Brother (2023), a raw and vulnerable new chapter in which Jon Matte opens up like never before.

Nominated for “Anglophone Show of the Year” at the 2024 Gala ADISQ, The Franklin Electric unveiled their most personal creation to date with the release of Victory Songs Vol.1. The year also saw them embark on a European tour as the opening act for Salt Tree in the fall, further solidifying their international presence. In 2025, The Franklin Electric will return to Europe, the UK, and Canada to present their new EP on stage.
