Henri Godon
music for children
There are those who are passionate about insects, the stars, mechanics, cooking, badminton or synchronized swimming. What Henri Godon loves most in the world is rhyming, playing the guitar and writing songs for children. And as he puts it so well in his song: it takes all kinds of people to make a world!
There are those who are passionate about insects, the stars, mechanics, cooking, badminton or synchronized swimming. What Henri Godon loves the most in the world is rhyming, playing the guitar and writing songs for children. And as he puts it so well in his song: it takes all kinds of people to make a world!
Henri Godon has been visiting many schools and young audiences for more than 25 years, composing, inventing and singing songs from the creative minds of children. Between two arias, he tells love stories that make you laugh and stories of horror that don’t really scare you. Sometimes he makes the students dance on the desks, but the teachers don’t like it very much. His lack of discipline at school allowed him to win the Grand Prix National Essor in 2017. Awarded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, it rewards an exceptional educational approach through the arts and culture .
Inspired by his dream of composing grown-up songs for children, it was in 2010 that Henri Godon released his first real record: “Musique pour toutes sortes d’enfants“. According to reviews, it has lyrics for children with music for parents (who listen to it secretly too). This is for the best, because Henri Godon considers that children deserve musical quality and songs that are addressed to them. He finds that children switch too quickly from nursery rhyme to commercial radio song. He took up the challenge! This first album received Canadian Folk Music Awards for Youth music and the Académie Charles Cros de France awarded it a Coup de cœur for the quality of its work.
A few years later, he embarked on the writing of his second album, “La vie rêve“, which was released in 2015. Nominated at ADISQ and JUNO, he also received, once again, the Coup de Cœur de The Charles Cros Academy in France. Thanks to his music and surrounded by his mythical Bedon Band, Henri Godon will have the chance to make a beautiful tour of the concert halls of Quebec and France. With his real children’s party, he meets thousands of spectators aged between 4 to 104 years old. In 2017, to reward his work, which is not really a job, the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec named him “Creator of the Year” in Mauricie. In 2020, the party continues and Henri Godon does it again with 11 new songs on a third disc entitled “Tous musiciens!”. He is back on the road with a brand new staging, accompanied his Bedon Band. So on your marks … get set … PARTY!
